Indian 42nd communication satellite CMS-01 has been successfully launched by the Indian Space Research Organization through PSLV-C50.

It was previously known as GSAT-12R.

The rocket delivered the CMS-01 satellite to its intended orbit after a 20-minute flight.

It was launched from Sriharikota Spaceport near Chennai.



This is the 52nd mission of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

CMS-01 is designed to provide services in the extended-C band of the frequency spectrum

This coverage includes the Indian mainland, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

It will have a mission life of 7 years.
